The VALUE COLLECTION 01248020 is a high speed steel (HSS) jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and other common workpiece materials. The bit measures 9.80 mm (0.3858 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 5.125 inches and a flute length of 3.734 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle is the widely accepted geometry for drilling steel and cast iron. An oxide coating provides baseline surface protection and helps reduce friction during cutting. Web-thinned construction with a tapered web reduces the thrust force needed to start and drive the bit. Licensed tradespeople and skilled machinists install and operate this bit in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment.
This jobber drill bit is suited for drilling steel and cast iron in both production and maintenance-repair-operations (MRO) settings. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters, making it a straightforward drop-in for most portable and stationary drilling equipment. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling in ferrous metals. It is sold individually and is appropriate for any shop or field application requiring a metric-diameter hole in the 9.00 mm to 10.00 mm size range.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit for use in ferrous metals including steel and cast iron, fitting any standard drill chuck that accepts a 0.3858-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for applications requiring a hole in the 9.00 mm to 10.00 mm drill bit size range.
Secure the shank fully in a properly rated drill chuck before operation and verify the chuck key is removed before powering on any equipment. Always power down and isolate the drilling machine before changing bits. Eye protection and appropriate work-holding are required when drilling metal. Avoid applying cutting pressure that causes the bit to chatter, as this can damage the point geometry and shorten tool life.
