The VALUE COLLECTION 01244201 is a high speed steel (HSS) jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. The bit features a standard 118-degree split point angle with web thinning and a tapered web configuration, which helps reduce walking at drill entry and lowers the thrust force needed to start a hole. An oxide coating provides modest surface hardness and lubricity during cutting. With an overall length of 3.2656 inches and a flute length of 2.125 inches, this is a standard jobber proportioned tool suited for benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations in light to medium production environments.
This drill bit is intended for use in metal fabrication, maintenance and repair, HVAC sheet metal work, electrical rough-in, plumbing rough-in, and general trade applications where a reliable general-purpose drill bit is needed. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks without an adapter. The right-hand spiral flute design evacuates chips efficiently during through-hole drilling in steel and cast iron workpieces. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 10 units per purchase.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck sized to accept a 0.1654-inch straight cylindrical shank, including benchtop drill presses, handheld power drills, and CNC machining centers. Rated for primary use in steel and cast iron workpieces.
Installation and use should follow standard machining and drilling safety practices. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling to prevent rotation. Ensure the chuck is tightened properly and the shank is fully seated before operation. Wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable workplace safety standards when drilling ferrous metals. Replace the bit when cutting edges show visible wear, chipping, or the bit requires excessive feed force to advance.
