The VALUE COLLECTION 01198217 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 21, equivalent to 0.1590 inches in decimal. Built for heavy-duty drilling applications, it features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact and reduces the thrust required to start a hole. The two-flute regular spiral design clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling. With an overall length of 3.25 inches and a flute length of 2.125 inches, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight cylindrical shank. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in demanding production or field environments.
This cobalt drill bit is engineered for cutting stainless steel and other hardened materials where high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. The cobalt alloy construction maintains hardness at elevated temperatures generated during aggressive metal removal. It is a practical choice for HVAC fabricators, pipefitters, and maintenance techs drilling through stainless sheet, angle iron, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. The straight shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks on corded drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment. Sold individually, it is available in multiples of 12.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement drill bit for use in standard three-jaw chucks on handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC spindles accepting straight-shank tooling in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch diameter range.
A licensed machinist or qualified technician should secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout on a drill press before production use. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece firmly to prevent rotation during drilling. When drilling stainless steel or hardened materials, use a cutting fluid to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate for the material being drilled, as cobalt bits are hard but can fracture under excessive side loading.
