The VALUE COLLECTION 01180140 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and cast iron. Ground from high speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish for basic lubricity and corrosion resistance, this bit measures 7/32 inches (0.2188 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree split-point angle suited for standard hand-fed and machine drilling. The 2-flute right-hand spiral flute design clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. At 3.75 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch flute, it fits standard drill chucks and CNC turrets without modification. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and industrial tradespeople use this bit for everyday production and repair work.
This jobber drill bit is suited for drilling steel and cast iron in light to medium-duty applications. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks on portable drills, drill presses, and turret lathes. The regular spiral flute geometry and tapered web configuration with web thinning reduce thrust load and improve centering when starting a hole. It is appropriate for residential and light commercial maintenance, fabrication shops, and job-site metalwork where a standard general-purpose bit is called for.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit compatible with any drill chuck accepting a straight cylindrical shank of 7/32 inches in diameter, including portable electric drills, benchtop drill presses, and CNC turret machines set up for straight-shank tooling.
Installation of this bit is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with drilling operations. Secure the straight shank fully into the chuck and tighten all jaws evenly before operation. Always power down and de-energize the drilling machine before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous materials to extend bit life and maintain hole quality; dry drilling steel accelerates edge wear.
