The VALUE COLLECTION 01167014 is a No. 1 wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit machined from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. It produces a 0.2280-inch diameter hole and features a standard 118-degree split point ground with web thinning and a tapered web configuration for improved centering and reduced thrust on entry. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2280 inches in diameter for direct chuck mounting. With an overall length of 3.875 inches and a 2.625-inch flute length, this bit suits general-purpose drilling tasks in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance applications. Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators.
This drill bit is rated for general-purpose use with a primary workpiece material designation of aluminum and non-ferrous metals, making it appropriate for drilling copper, brass, aluminum plate, and similar materials. The regular spiral, two-flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations on bench drills, drill presses, and hand-held power drills. It carries no coolant-through capability, so external cutting fluid or cutting oil should be applied when drilling harder non-ferrous stock to extend edge life and maintain hole tolerance.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit suitable for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks on drill presses, CNC drilling machines, and hand-held power drills that accept straight-shank bits up to 0.2280 inches in shank diameter.
Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck before operation, ensuring the bit runs true with minimal runout. Apply a cutting fluid or cutting oil when drilling aluminum or other non-ferrous metals to preserve edge life and maintain hole diameter accuracy. Disconnect or de-energize the drilling equipment before changing bits. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use; a dull point will produce oversized holes and excess heat.
