The UNITED ELECTRIC CONTROLS J120-190 is an explosion-proof pressure switch designed for use in hazardous-location applications where ignition risk from electrical arcing must be eliminated. Rated to a maximum pressure setting of 1500 psi, this switch provides reliable process-control switching in demanding industrial and commercial environments. The 1/2 inch NPTF threaded process connection ensures a pressure-tight, metal-to-metal seal at the port. Licensed electricians and instrumentation technicians are the primary trades that install and commission this type of device.
This pressure switch is suited for installation in classified hazardous locations such as petrochemical facilities, refineries, compressor stations, and industrial process plants where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust may be present. The explosion-proof enclosure contains any internal ignition, preventing it from propagating to the surrounding atmosphere. It is appropriate for both new instrumentation installations and replacement of existing pressure switches in high-pressure monitoring and control circuits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation pressure switch for hazardous-location industrial control systems requiring an explosion-proof rated pressure switch with a 1/2 inch NPTF process connection and a maximum pressure setting of 1500 psi.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified instrumentation technician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) Article 500 requirements for hazardous classified locations. De-energize all control circuits and relieve system pressure to zero before removing or installing the switch. Verify the process connection thread type is NPTF and apply appropriate thread sealant rated for the process fluid and pressure. Do not exceed the rated maximum pressure setting of 1500 psi in service.
