The UBIQUITI usw-16-poe is a managed gigabit switch designed for professional network installations in commercial and residential environments. It provides 16 RJ45 ports for high-speed gigabit connectivity, with 8 of those ports supporting PoE+ to power network devices directly from the switch. Two 1G SFP uplink ports support fiber connections for integration into larger network backbones. Total PoE power budget is 42 watts across all PoE+ ports. The switch operates fanlessly for silent deployment in offices, studios, and equipment closets, and integrates natively with the UniFi network management platform for centralized remote administration.
This switch is suited for small to mid-size commercial deployments and residential network infrastructure where managed switching, PoE device power delivery, and centralized management are required. Typical applications include powering wireless access points, IP cameras, and VoIP phones without separate power injectors. The UniFi integration makes it appropriate for network technicians and IT professionals managing multi-device environments from a single controller interface. Its fanless design makes it a practical fit for noise-sensitive spaces such as recording studios, conference rooms, and residential utility closets.
Designed as an OEM-style managed gigabit switch compatible with UniFi network controller environments and standard IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ powered devices.
Installation should be performed by a qualified network technician familiar with managed switch configuration and low-voltage structured cabling standards. Power down or disconnect the switch before making physical connections to upstream network equipment. Verify that the total power draw of connected PoE devices does not exceed the 42W budget before deployment. Follow local electrical codes and manufacturer documentation when rack-mounting or wall-mounting the unit.
