The TYLER PIPE 509 is a no hub cast iron short reducer designed for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems. It connects an 8-inch pipe to a 5-inch pipe using a no hub (hubless) coupling interface, allowing licensed plumbers and pipefitters to reduce pipe diameter within a sanitary or storm drain line. Cast iron construction provides the durability and noise-dampening characteristics required in commercial and multi-story residential installations. The short-body configuration keeps the fitting compact, making it easier to fit within tight vertical or horizontal runs where space is limited.
This reducer is used in no hub cast iron drain systems installed in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and multi-family residential construction. It is typically installed where a main stack or large-diameter horizontal run transitions to a smaller branch line. The no hub connection style requires standard no hub couplings and stainless steel clamps for secure, code-compliant assembly, and is suitable for both above-ground and underground DWV applications where cast iron is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style no hub cast iron fitting compatible with standard no hub cast iron DWV piping systems using hubless couplings conforming to CISPI 310 or ASTM C1277 specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off all flow and verify the line is depressurized before removing any existing fittings. Secure no hub couplings using a calibrated torque wrench set to the coupling manufacturer's specified torque value printed on the coupling packaging. Support the fitting adequately per code requirements to prevent stress on the cast iron body at connection points.
