The TWECO 1240-1873 is a medium-duty, extended taper MIG welding nozzle from the Velocity line, designed for professional welding applications where thread reliability and consistent tip-to-nozzle alignment are critical. The Velocity design reduces the total number of thread sets to one, pairing brass threads on the nozzle against heat-treated stainless steel threads on the gooseneck. This soft-against-hard thread combination resists seizing and cross-threading, two of the most common failure points with conventional MIG consumables. The nozzle features a 1/2 inch bore opening and is sold individually. Licensed welders and fabrication technicians working with MIG setups will recognize the no-tool installation advantage of this design.
The 1240-1873 fits medium-duty MIG welding applications in both shop and field environments. The extended taper geometry improves access in tighter joint configurations and provides better visibility of the weld puddle during operation. It is suited for production welding, structural fabrication, and general MIG work where consistent nozzle-to-contact-tip flushness is required to maintain arc stability and shielding gas coverage. The Velocity line offers three nozzle styles: fixed threaded for consistent flushness, adjustable slip for welder-controlled setback and cleaning access, and spot weld for tack and spot welding tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement nozzle for medium-duty MIG welding guns compatible with the TWECO Velocity consumable system.
Installation is performed by a qualified welder or welding technician. Always power down the welding machine and allow the nozzle and contact tip to cool completely before removing or installing consumables. The brass threads are the sacrificial element in this design — avoid using pipe wrenches or locking pliers, as overtightening will damage the soft threads. Inspect the gooseneck stainless threads for debris or spatter buildup before threading on a replacement nozzle.
