The TWECO 1220-1202 Velocity MIG welding nozzle is a copper alloy gas nozzle designed for MIG welding guns. Cut and formed from 122 DHP copper alloy tubing, it slides over the standard nozzle insulator and is adjustable to set the contact tip-to-nozzle relationship for the specific application. The part number is rolled-stamped on the outside surface for fast identification in the field. Licensed welders and maintenance technicians working with MIG setups install this nozzle as part of the front-end consumable assembly. At 0.13 pounds and compact dimensions, it is a direct-replacement consumable suited for production and repair welding environments.
This nozzle is used across MIG welding applications where tip positioning relative to the nozzle affects arc performance and weld quality. Recessed tip configurations suit higher heat applications requiring longer electrical stick-out, or situations where the nozzle may contact the work piece such as tack, spot, and stitch welding. Flush tip configurations work where shorter electrical stick-out and tighter arc lengths are needed. Protruding tip configurations are selected when welding open root pipe or accessing tight weld joints, though care must be taken to avoid arcing the tip to the work piece, which can damage front-end parts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement consumable for TWECO Velocity MIG welding gun front-end assemblies using the standard nozzle insulator configuration.
Installation is performed by welders or maintenance technicians servicing MIG gun front-end assemblies. Disconnect the welding power source and allow the gun to cool completely before removing or installing nozzle consumables. Slide the nozzle over the nozzle insulator and adjust to the desired tip-to-nozzle position before securing. Inspect front-end parts for damage during any consumable replacement to avoid unplanned downtime.
