The TWECO 1160-1773 is a MIG welding contact tip designed for use with the Tweco Velocity2a torch system. It accepts 0.035-inch wire and is rated for 200 to 350 amps at 60% duty cycle. The contact tip is the consumable through which welding wire is guided and current is transferred to the arc. It seats into the Velocity system's single-thread design, which pairs brass threads against stainless steel mating surfaces to reduce seizing and cross-threading. MIG welders and welding maintenance technicians install and replace these tips as a routine part of torch upkeep.
The 1160-1773 is suited for semi-automatic MIG welding applications in fabrication, manufacturing, and general repair environments. It is optimized for use with 0.045-inch wire but is compatible with wire sizes ranging from 0.030 inches to 1/16 inches (1.6 mm). The Velocity system design eliminates the need for tools during tip changes, reducing downtime during production welding. This tip is sold individually and is a direct-replacement consumable for Velocity2a-equipped MIG torches rated in the 200 to 350 amp range.
Designed for use with Tweco Velocity2a MIG torch systems. Compatible with wire sizes 0.030 inches to 1/16 inches (1.6 mm) and optimized for 0.045-inch wire.
Contact tips should be replaced by a qualified welder or welding technician. Power down and de-energize the welding system before removing or installing any torch consumables. The Velocity2a system is designed for tool-free tip removal and installation; do not use pliers or wrenches on the tip body, as this can damage the brass threads. Inspect the nozzle and diffuser for spatter buildup whenever the contact tip is replaced.
