The TWECO 1160-1768 is a MIG welding contact tip designed for use with the Velocity2a series MIG gun consumable system. Contact tips transfer welding current to the wire as it feeds through the gun, and this tip is sized at 5/64 inch to match the corresponding wire diameter. Constructed to work within a single-thread retention system, it reduces the thread interfaces common in standard MIG consumable setups. The brass threading on the tip mates against harder stainless steel threads in the gun body, a combination that resists seizing and cross-threading during routine tip changes. Sold individually, this tip is a direct service part for welders running the Velocity2a platform.
This contact tip is suited for MIG welding applications in fabrication shops, manufacturing facilities, and field welding environments where fast consumable changes and reliable electrical contact are priorities. The Velocity2a system is engineered to reduce the number of tools needed during tip replacement. Welders working in production settings benefit from the fixed threaded design, which maintains a consistent flushness relationship between the contact tip and nozzle opening. This part is sold as a single unit and is intended for replacement during scheduled maintenance or when tip wear causes arc instability or wire feeding issues.
Designed for use with the TWECO Velocity2a MIG gun consumable system. Intended as a replacement contact tip for guns configured with the Velocity2a nozzle and retention design.
Contact tip replacement is performed by licensed welding equipment technicians or experienced welders following equipment lockout and wire feed shutdown procedures. Power down the welding machine and allow the gun to cool before removing a worn tip. Hand-tighten the replacement tip firmly into the gun body without overtightening, which can distort the brass threads. Inspect the liner and nozzle for wear or spatter buildup during each tip change.
