The TWECO 1160-1766 is a MIG welding contact tip designed for use with the Velocity2a torch system. It accepts 1/16 inch wire and serves as the final current-transfer point between the welding machine and the wire electrode. The Velocity2a design reduces the total thread count to a single set, pairing brass threads on the replaceable components against heat-treated stainless steel threads on the gooseneck. This soft-against-hard thread combination resists seizing and cross-threading, two of the most common failure points with standard MIG consumables. Licensed welding technicians and fabricators install this tip as a routine consumable replacement during MIG torch maintenance.
The 1160-1766 is suited for MIG welding applications where consistent wire alignment and reliable current transfer are required. The Velocity2a platform is available in Fixed Threaded and Adjustable Slip configurations. The Fixed Threaded design maintains a consistent flushness relationship between the nozzle opening and the contact tip. The Adjustable Slip version allows the operator to set the flushness relationship and improves access for cleaning between passes or between jobs. A two-piece Fixed Threaded variant is also available within the Velocity2a system for easier cleaning and maintenance access.
Designed for use with the Tweco Velocity2a MIG torch platform in Fixed Threaded and Adjustable Slip nozzle configurations. Accepts 1/16 inch welding wire.
Contact tip replacement is performed by qualified welders or MIG torch service technicians. Power down the welding machine and allow the torch to cool before handling consumables. No tools are required for contact tip installation or removal within the Velocity2a system. Inspect the gooseneck threads for wear or debris before installing a new tip to ensure a proper seat and consistent electrical contact.
