The TWECO 1160-1762 is a 0.040 inch MIG welding contact tip designed for use in the Velocity2a consumable system. It feeds welding wire through the torch and transfers current to the wire at the point of arc initiation. The Velocity2a system reduces the total thread count to one set per connection, pairing brass threads on the replaceable nozzle against heat-treated stainless steel threads on the gooseneck. This soft-against-hard thread pairing resists seizing and cross-threading. The tip measures 1.51 inches in length and 0.43 inches in diameter, and weighs approximately 0.04 pounds. Licensed welding professionals and MIG welding technicians install and replace these tips as part of routine torch maintenance.
The 1160-1762 fits into the Velocity2a MIG torch consumable platform, which is engineered for tool-free nozzle removal and consistent nozzle-to-tip flushness. It is suited for production welding environments where downtime from seized threads, cross-threading, or inconsistent tip-to-nozzle positioning is a recurring maintenance concern. The fixed-thread design maintains a set flushness relationship between the nozzle opening and the contact tip, which is critical for stable arc performance and consistent wire protrusion. Minimum order quantity is 10 pieces per the supplier data.
Designed for use with the Tweco Velocity2a MIG torch consumable system. Install only with compatible Velocity2a nozzle and gooseneck components to maintain the intended thread engagement and flushness characteristics.
Contact tip replacement is performed by MIG welding technicians as part of standard torch maintenance. Power down the welding system and allow the torch to cool completely before removing or installing consumables. The Velocity2a system is designed for tool-free tip and nozzle removal; do not use pliers or wrenches on the nozzle threads, as this can damage the brass thread interface. Inspect the gooseneck stainless threads for debris or spatter buildup before installing a new tip.
