The TWECO 1160-1606 is a tapered MIG welding contact tip from the Tweco Eliminator Series, engineered for high-amperage MIG gun applications. It accommodates 0.062 inch (1/16 inch) wire diameter and features a 0.073 inch inside diameter bore with a 0.345 inch outside diameter. The tip measures 1.5 inches in length. This patented tip is built for extended service life compared to standard contact tips, reducing downtime and changeout frequency in demanding welding environments. It is installed by welders and MIG welding technicians in fabrication, manufacturing, and structural applications.
This contact tip is designed specifically for use with Tweco Eliminator style MIG guns rated at 250 to 650 amps. The tapered profile seats securely within the Eliminator gun nozzle assembly, maintaining consistent electrical contact and wire feed alignment during high-duty-cycle operation. It is sold individually and is well suited to shops that run continuous MIG welding processes where tip wear is a frequent maintenance concern.
Designed for use with Tweco Eliminator style MIG guns rated at 250 to 650 amps. Consult the gun manufacturer documentation to confirm fitment before installation.
Contact tip replacement should be performed by a qualified welder or welding technician with the MIG gun fully de-energized and disconnected from the wire feeder. Allow the gun and nozzle assembly to cool before handling consumables to avoid burns. Hand-tighten the contact tip securely into the tip holder to ensure proper electrical contact — do not overtighten with tools, as this can damage the threads. Inspect the nozzle and liner condition whenever replacing the contact tip.
