The TWECO 1160-1602 is a tapered MIG welding contact tip engineered for the Eliminator series of high-amperage MIG guns. It accepts 0.035-inch wire and features a 0.044-inch bore ID and a 0.345-inch OD. At 1.5 inches in length, this contact tip is built to deliver extended service life through a patented design that reduces tip wear under sustained high-amperage operation. It is a sold-individually consumable intended for professional welders and MIG gun service technicians working with Tweco Eliminator-style guns rated from 250 to 650 amps.
This contact tip is suited for demanding MIG welding applications where tip longevity and consistent wire-to-tip contact are critical. The tapered geometry is specific to the Eliminator gun platform and is not interchangeable with standard cylindrical MIG tips. Typical installations include fabrication shops, structural welding operations, and maintenance welding environments running continuous or high-duty-cycle passes with 0.035-inch solid or flux-core wire.
Designed for use with Tweco and Tweco Eliminator MIG guns rated at 250 to 650 amps. This tapered contact tip is specific to the Eliminator gun platform and requires the corresponding Eliminator-style gun body and nozzle assembly.
Contact tip replacement is a routine MIG gun consumable service performed by welders and MIG equipment technicians. Before replacing the tip, power down the welder and allow the gun neck to cool to avoid burns. Use the appropriate tip wrench or pliers to avoid cross-threading — hand-tighten first, then snug with a tool. Inspect the diffuser and nozzle for spatter buildup during each tip changeout.
