The TWECO 1140-1174 is a Weldskill series MIG contact tip designed for 5/64 inch wire with a 0.090 inch nominal inside diameter bore and a length of 1.5 inches. Machined from 122 DHP copper alloy tubing, it delivers consistent inside diameter surface finish held to a tolerance of plus or minus 0.003 inches. The tip uses a 1/4 inch-28 UNF-2A threaded base to seat securely in a gas diffuser. A twist-lock design allows the tip to lock in place without requiring tight threading. It is sold in a pack of 25 and is appropriate for standard MIG welding applications rated up to 400 amps. Licensed welding technicians and fabrication shop personnel are the typical installers.
This contact tip is rated for use on 200 to 400 amp Tweco No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 MIG guns as well as compatible Tweco MIG gun series that accept the same thread pattern and tip geometry. It is suited for production welding environments where consistent arc performance and extended consumable life are priorities. The thick-walled copper alloy construction acts as a heat sink, drawing heat away from the arc zone during sustained welding cycles. The tip accommodates both slip-on and thread-on nozzle styles, making it adaptable across a range of Tweco gun configurations.
Designed for use with 200 to 400 amp Tweco No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 MIG guns and compatible Tweco MIG gun series that accept the 1/4 inch-28 UNF-2A thread pattern and 1.5 inch tip length.
Installation is performed by a qualified welding technician. Shut down welding power and allow the gun neck to cool before removing or installing contact tips. Thread the tip into the gas diffuser by hand until seated, then engage the twist-lock with a quarter turn — avoid over-torquing threaded components. Inspect the bore for spatter buildup and replace the tip when bore elongation affects arc stability or wire feed consistency.
