The TWECO 1140-1170 is a threaded MIG contact tip designed for wire feeders and MIG guns operating at up to 400 amps. Machined from 122 DHP copper alloy tubing, it accepts 0.052-inch wire through a 0.064-inch nominal bore with a bore tolerance of plus or minus 0.003 inches. The tip measures 1.5 inches in length with a 1/4-inch OD and uses a 1/4-inch-28 UNF-2A thread for secure installation into a gas diffuser. Each tip is marked with the part number and wire diameter for fast identification at the gun. Licensed welders and MIG technicians rely on this tip for consistent electrical transfer in standard production welding environments.
This contact tip suits standard MIG welding applications in residential and light industrial settings. Rated to 400 amps, it is appropriate for solid and flux-cored wire processes where precise bore tolerances are critical to arc stability and wire feed consistency. The threaded design ensures solid contact with the gas diffuser body when installed on a compatible MIG gun. Sold in a pack of 25, making it practical for shop inventory and field service kits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement contact tip for standard threaded MIG gun gas diffusers accepting 1/4-inch-28 UNF-2A thread tips.
Installation is performed by a qualified welder or MIG gun technician. Disconnect and de-energize the welding power source and wire feeder before servicing the gun neck or contact tip. Thread the tip into the gas diffuser by hand first, then snug with the appropriate wrench — do not overtighten, as this can distort the bore or damage diffuser threads. Inspect the bore for spatter buildup and replace the tip when wire feed resistance or arc instability is observed.
