The TWECO 1140-1103 is a 14 Series standard-duty MIG contact tip designed for wire feeders running 0.040-inch diameter wire. Built from extruded or gun-drilled 122 DHP copper alloy and machined from copper alloy tubing, it delivers consistent inside diameter surface finish held to a tolerance of plus or minus 0.003 inches. At 1.5 inches in length with a 1/4-28 UNF-2A threaded connection, a 0.054-inch nominal ID, and a 0.25-inch OD, this tip threads directly onto compatible gas diffusers for solid electrical contact. Licensed welding professionals and MIG gun technicians install these tips as part of routine gun maintenance on high-cycle production and fabrication equipment. Sold in packs of 25.
This contact tip is rated for standard welding applications up to 400 amps, making it appropriate for use on 200 to 400 amp MIG guns. The thick-walled copper alloy construction acts as a heat sink, drawing heat away from the arc source during sustained welding cycles. The tip is stamped with the part number and wire diameter for fast identification when swapping consumables on the floor. The twist-lock design seats the tip securely against the gas diffuser without relying on threads to maintain position, increasing the electrical conductive surface area between tip and diffuser. When the initial wear point is reached, a quarter-turn clockwise rotation exposes a fresh contact surface, effectively doubling the service life of each tip.
Designed for use with 200 to 400 amp Tweco No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 MIG guns, as well as compatible MIG gun series that accept a 1/4-28 UNF-2A threaded contact tip with slip-on or thread-on nozzle styles.
Contact tip replacement is performed by qualified welding equipment technicians or trained MIG gun operators. Always power down the welder and allow the gun to cool before removing or installing contact tips. Ensure the gas diffuser threads are clean and undamaged before threading the new tip into place. Follow the gun manufacturer's service documentation for torque and seating procedures specific to the gun model in use.
