The TWECO 1040-1688 is a Professional No. 4 Classic Series MIG gun rated at 400 amps and designed for semi-automatic MIG welding in medium to heavy-duty fabrication environments. It accepts wire diameters from 0.035 to 0.045 inches and ships with a 15-foot lead cable featuring a Miller-style rear connection. The gun runs air-cooled and delivers a 60% duty cycle when used with CO2 shielding gas. A 60-degree metal jacket conductor tube with full 360-degree swivel around the handle gives the operator flexible positioning across a wide range of weld joints. Licensed welding professionals and industrial fabricators are the primary users of this gun.
The 1040-1688 is built for production welding, maintenance and repair operations, shop fabrication, and field work. The oval-shaped, high-impact crush-resistant handle reduces grip fatigue during extended use. The gun is balanced to pivot at the center of the handle, allowing easier manipulation across flat, vertical, and overhead positions. A Mig-Kwik fully insulated connection at the rear enables fast connect and disconnect at the wire feeder without tools. Front-end consumables are interchangeable with the Tweco Spray Master series, reducing inventory requirements for shops running multiple gun platforms.
Designed for use with Miller-style wire feeders. Front-end consumables are interchangeable with the Tweco Spray Master series and Tweco Professional No. Series guns.
Installation and service should be performed by a qualified welding equipment technician or licensed welder familiar with MIG gun assemblies. Disconnect power to the wire feeder and release all shielding gas pressure before connecting or servicing the gun. Secure the Cablehoz and conductor tube using the two provided ball-point screws before initiating any weld. Follow applicable ANSI and AWS safety standards for welding equipment setup and operation.
