The TWECO 1040-1071 is a Spray Master Series MIG welding gun rated at 450 amps with an 80% duty cycle when used with argon/CO2 or mixed gases. It accepts wire sizes from 0.045 inches to 1/16 inches and features a 25-foot power cable with a Lincoln-style direct rear plug connection for simplified installation. The air-cooled gun is built around a thick-walled, three-layer conductor tube that acts as a heat sink, improving electrical conductivity and reducing handle heat. A heavy-duty contact tip and diffuser extend consumable life in high-heat spray transfer and pulse welding applications. Licensed welding professionals and production technicians are the primary installers.
The 1040-1071 is suited for spray transfer and pulse welding across a wide range of environments, including fabrication shops, production lines, maintenance and repair operations, and farm or garage settings. Its ergonomic, balanced handle pivots at the center to reduce operator fatigue across varied welding positions. The extended trigger length keeps the operator hand farther from the arc to minimize radiated heat exposure. The Lincoln-style rear connection makes it a straightforward drop-in for compatible wire feed systems already using that connector style.
The 1040-1071 features a Lincoln-style direct rear plug connection and is designed for use with compatible Lincoln-style wire feed systems. Front-end consumables are interchangeable with Tweco Classic No. Series and Tweco Spray Master Series guns.
Installation should be performed by a qualified welding technician familiar with MIG gun cable connections and wire feed equipment. Disconnect and de-energize the wire feeder and power source completely before connecting or disconnecting the gun. Verify that the rear plug seats fully and that the cable is routed to avoid sharp bends that could restrict wire feedability. Follow the equipment manufacturer guidelines and applicable workplace safety codes when placing the gun into service.
