The TWECO 1040-1068 is a Spray Master Series MIG welding gun rated at 450 amps and designed for high-output spray transfer and pulse welding applications. It accommodates wire sizes from 0.045 to 1/16 inches and ships with a 25-foot power cable featuring a Miller-style direct rear plug connection. The gun runs air-cooled with an 80% duty cycle when used with argon/CO2 or mixed gas blends. A thick-walled, three-layer conductor tube improves electrical conductivity and acts as a heat sink, keeping handle temperatures lower during extended use. This gun is built for licensed welders running production, maintenance, or heavy shop work.
The 1040-1068 is suited for both light-gauge and heavier-material work across a range of environments including production shops, maintenance and repair operations, farm and agricultural settings, and general fabrication. The Miller-style rear connection makes it a drop-in replacement on compatible wire feeders. The simplified direct rear plug reduces setup time during initial installation or gun swaps. The extended trigger design keeps the operator's hand farther from the arc, reducing radiated heat exposure during long welds. Front-end consumables are interchangeable with Tweco Classic No. Series guns, reducing the number of spare parts a shop needs to stock.
Features a Miller-style direct rear plug connection compatible with Miller wire feeders. Front-end consumables are interchangeable with Tweco Classic No. Series MIG guns. Optional mechanical locking trigger configuration is available and identified by the LC suffix on the part number.
Installation and service should be performed by a qualified welding technician familiar with MIG gun connections and wire feeder systems. Power down and de-energize the wire feeder completely before connecting or disconnecting the gun. Verify the rear plug connection is fully seated and secured before initiating a weld. Inspect the cable, strain relief, and consumables for wear before returning the gun to service.
