The TWECO 1027-1023 is an air-cooled MIG welding gun rated at 250 amps with a 25-foot cable, designed for solid wire diameters up to 0.045 inches. It features a three-layer conductor tube construction consisting of a copper tube, silicon-resin glass insulator, and metal jacket, terminating in a 60-degree metal-jacketed conductor tube with a 3-inch bend radius. The rear Miller-style connection and dual spring strain relief — front and rear — contribute to long service life in demanding shop environments. Licensed welding professionals and experienced fabricators are the primary installers and operators of this gun.
The 1027-1023 is suited for a wide range of welding applications including maintenance and repair, production fabrication, farm and garage use, and artistic metalwork. The gun carries a 60 percent duty cycle rating when used with CO2 shielding gas, making it appropriate for sustained weld runs in shop and light industrial settings. Its oval handle design reduces operator fatigue during extended use. The split-half handle case allows field repair access without additional connectors, reducing downtime on the job.
Equipped with a rear Miller-style connection, making this gun a direct-fit replacement for Miller MIG welding machines that accept standard rear-connect MIG guns.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified welding technician familiar with MIG gun connections and shielding gas systems. Disconnect power to the welding machine and shut off the shielding gas supply before connecting or disconnecting the gun. Verify that the liner, contact tip, and nozzle are correctly seated before initiating a weld. Follow applicable AWS and equipment manufacturer guidelines for gun maintenance and consumable replacement intervals.
