The TURBO TORCH 0426-2001 is a nitrogen purge regulator designed for use when brazing copper pipe and tubing in HVAC and light fabrication applications. When heat is applied to copper during brazing, oxidation occurs inside the pipe unless nitrogen is flowing through the system. This regulator delivers the low-pressure, low-volume nitrogen flow required to displace oxygen and prevent oxide scale from forming. Those oxide flakes, if left unchecked, circulate through the system and damage compressor bearings, clog metering devices, and foul filters. The 0426-2001 weighs 3.2 pounds and measures 8.5 inches long, 7.6 inches wide, and 4.5 inches tall.
This regulator is used during copper pipe brazing on refrigeration and air conditioning systems where nitrogen purging is a required step before pressure testing and evacuation. It is also suited for light fabrication work involving copper or other metal tubing. Using dry nitrogen during the brazing process reduces residual moisture in the system, which in turn minimizes evacuation time and lowers the risk of acid formation when refrigerant is introduced. HVAC technicians and refrigeration mechanics are the primary installers of this type of equipment.
Designed for use with dry nitrogen gas cylinders in HVAC brazing and light fabrication applications involving copper pipe and tubing systems.
Installation and use of this regulator should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified refrigeration mechanic familiar with nitrogen purging procedures. Always confirm the nitrogen cylinder valve is fully closed before attaching or removing the regulator. Keep the nitrogen flow rate low during brazing — high-volume flow is not required and wastes gas. Follow all applicable safety guidelines for compressed gas handling as outlined by the Compressed Gas Association and local codes.
