The TUNGALOY 6863037 is a solid carbide replaceable drill tip designed for the DrillMeister modular drilling system. It carries the DMP122 insert geometry and AH725 grade designation, with a TiAlN coating applied to extend tool life and resist heat at the cutting edge. The tip measures 0.4800 inches (12.20 mm) in cutting diameter and features a 140-degree drill point angle suited for controlled entry and chip formation. Licensed HVAC, machining, and metalworking tradespeople will recognize this as a precision indexable insert designed to swap into compatible DrillMeister bodies without removing the full tool assembly from the spindle.
This replaceable tip is intended for drilling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium - ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. It is used in CNC machining centers and production drilling applications where consistent hole quality and fast tip replacement between operations are priorities. The DMP series geometry and AH725 substrate are matched to handle interrupted cuts and work-hardening materials common in aerospace and general metalworking environments. This tip does not include coolant-through capability, so external coolant or flood cooling setups apply.
Designed for use with TUNGALOY DrillMeister modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 12 and the DMP122 ISO tip designation. Verify seat size and series compatibility with your existing drill body before ordering.
Replaceable drill tips of this type are installed and removed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using the manufacturer-specified wrench or torque key for the DrillMeister system. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before handling or swapping tips. Inspect the insert seat on the drill body for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new tip, as seat damage will affect runout and tip life. Follow the machine tool builder and tooling manufacturer guidelines for clamping procedure.
