The TUNGALOY 6862394 is an indexable boring bar from the StreamJetBar series, designed for internal boring and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built with a steel shank measuring 3/4 inch in diameter and 7 inches in overall length, this bar accepts diamond-shaped inserts held by screw clamping for repeatable, secure positioning. The 95-degree lead angle and negative radial/neutral axial rake geometry make it well-suited for general-purpose finish and semi-finish boring applications. A minimum bore diameter of 1 inch and a maximum bore depth of 1.438 inches define its working envelope. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management in deep-bore conditions.
This boring bar is intended for use in production and job-shop turning environments where consistent bore quality is required. The SCLCL/SCLCR toolholder style accommodates left-hand and right-hand configurations. Compatible insert size code 32.5 with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 0.156 inch thickness narrows insert selection to standard CCMT/CCGT diamond-style grades. Typical applications include roughing and finishing bores in steel, cast iron, and other ferrous materials. This tool is suited for machinists and CNC programmers working in light manufacturing, aerospace component shops, and general metalworking facilities.
Designed for use with diamond-shaped inserts with a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle, 0.156 inch thickness, and compatible insert size code 32.5, in SCLCL and SCLCR toolholder configurations. Suitable for boring and turning applications as identified by UNSPSC code 23241601.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the boring bar from the turret or tool block. Verify coolant-through connections are properly seated before engaging the coolant system. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's torque specifications when clamping the shank and seating the insert screw.
