The TUNGALOY 6859436 is a solid carbide coated turning insert in the CNMG432HMM series, designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Carrying the AH905 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, this insert targets superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials - among the most challenging categories in production machining. The 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) provides a strong cutting geometry, while the HMM chip breaker and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style support stable chip control and edge protection during turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert measures 0.508 inches in length with a 0.5 inscribed circle and a 0.0315-inch corner radius.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes where superalloy and titanium components require consistent, repeatable stock removal. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across multiple toolholder setups. With four cutting edges available per insert, it delivers extended tool life value per unit. Typical applications include turning, facing, and boring on aerospace, medical, and energy-sector components where workpiece materials such as Inconel, titanium alloys, and other high-temperature alloys are common. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards under the industry number CNMG 432 HMM.
Designed to fit standard CNMG toolholders accepting a 432-size insert with clamp and pin holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO specifications for CNMG 432 HMM inserts. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions against the 0.203-inch hole diameter and 0.1875-inch insert thickness before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamp and pin are properly engaged before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.1181 inches without confirming the toolholder and workpiece setup can handle the resulting cutting forces.
