The TUNGALOY 6857019 is a solid carbide turning insert with grade designation CCGT3251NJS AH725, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) with a positive rake angle of 10 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert is coated with TiAlN via a PVD coating process, which delivers thermal resistance and wear protection across a wide range of workpiece materials. The JS chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip flow during turning, facing, and boring operations. A licensed CCGT-style insert, it suits both finishing and semi-finishing passes. Installation and operation require a compatible screw-lock toolholder matching the CCGT insert pocket specification.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is applicable in both light and moderate cutting conditions and is appropriate for use in production and job-shop environments where tool versatility across multiple material grades is required. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand or left-hand setups depending on toolholder configuration. Machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, general metalworking, and precision manufacturing will find this insert applicable to common finishing and semi-finishing turning cycles.
Designed for use in screw-lock CCGT-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1730-inch hole diameter. Compatible with toolholder systems conforming to ANSI and ISO CCGT 32.51 N-JS pocket specifications. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and seating clearance before installation.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the screw-lock retention fastener - refer to the toolholder manufacturer specification for fastener torque. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the insert, and confirm the insert seats fully and evenly before resuming cutting operations.
