The TUNGALOY 6856765 is a CCMT-series turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a TiAlN PVD coating under the AH725 grade designation, this insert delivers consistent edge performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.382 inches, and insert thickness is 0.156 inches. Screw-style clamping holds the insert securely in compatible toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both roughing and finishing passes. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Material grades covered include P15, P30, M15, M30, K25, K30, S15, and S25. The PS chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation and is optimized for light-to-medium depth-of-cut applications. Maximum depth of cut is 2.50 mm (0.098 inches). This insert is classified as a multi-use tool and carries neutral hand orientation, making it adaptable to a variety of toolholder configurations.
The TUNGALOY 6856765 conforms to CCMT insert geometry standards (ANSI and ISO) and is compatible with toolholders designed for CCMT 32.52 inserts with screw clamping. It is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials under material grade classifications P15, P30, M15, M30, K25, K30, S15, and S25.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket seating surface for wear or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper clamping and edge repeatability.
