The TUNGALOY 6818332 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-PM series, designed for external and internal metal cutting operations. It carries the AH120 manufacturer grade with a TiAlN PVD coating, which extends wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C), a positive rake angle of 8 degrees, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, it delivers consistent chip control on finish and semi-finish turning passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this insert in production turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring on CNC lathes and turning centers across both production and job-shop environments. It performs on a broad set of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The PM chip breaker geometry supports reliable chip formation at moderate depths of cut up to 0.1181 inches. It uses a screw-on holding method, making indexing fast during tool changes. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible setup on standard CCMT-compatible toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CCMT-compatible screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for CCMT 32.51 geometry. Compatible with applications involving steel (P15, P25), stainless steel (M15, M25), cast iron (K15, K30), superalloys and titanium (S10, S25), and hard materials per ISO material grade classifications.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians using a torx or hex key to seat the insert screw into a CCMT-compatible toolholder. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and insert seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidance for insert screw torque procedures.
