The TUNGALOY 6811624 is a CNMG432TH AH120 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake angle of -20 degrees and a neutral hand orientation. With four usable cutting edges and a chamfered and honed edge preparation, it provides consistent performance across a range of stock removal rates. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CNMG-style toolholders using a clamp or pin holding method.
This insert is rated for roughing, medium machining, and heavy machining applications. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Material grade designations cover P15, P25, M15, M25, K15, K30, S10, and S25, making it a broad-application insert for production turning environments. It is suitable for both residential machine shops and industrial production facilities where high metal removal rates and consistent tool life are priorities. The CNMG-TH series chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip control across varying feed and depth-of-cut conditions.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 432 (ANSI) or 120408 (ISO) insert size with clamp or pin holding. Compatible with CNC turning, facing, and boring setups. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping method before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle and ensure all axis movement is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use appropriate insert seating tools to ensure the insert is fully seated in the pocket before tightening the clamp or pin. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
