Product Description

The TUNGALOY 6810498 is a WNMG433 AH120 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN PVD coating applied over a carbide substrate, delivering thermal resistance and edge wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. It carries a trigon (80-degree included angle) insert shape with a negative rake geometry and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With six usable cutting edges and a 3/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for productive roughing and semi-finishing passes across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.

This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring operations. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing applications on materials classified under ISO codes P, M, K, S, and H, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials. Material grades P15, P25, M15, M25, K15, K30, S10, and S25 are listed as applicable. The WNMG433 industry standard geometry is a widely used form factor on production turning equipment in automotive, aerospace, and general machining environments. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling specialists.

Key Features

  • TiAlN PVD coating for thermal and wear resistance in demanding cutting conditions
  • Six cutting edges per insert for extended tooling economy
  • 80-degree trigon shape with negative rake for strong edge geometry
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge style reduces chipping on entry
  • Rated for turning, facing, and boring in a single insert
  • Meets ANSI and ISO standards for WNMG 433 geometry

Compatibility

Designed for use in toolholders accepting WNMG 433 style inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with clamp and pin insert holding methods. Suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials under ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a safe lockout state before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the seating surface and pocket for chips or debris before installing a new edge. Follow applicable ANSI and ISO tooling safety guidelines when handling carbide inserts.
