The TUNGALOY 6805899 is a round RNMG-style solid carbide turning insert in grade AH120 with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating. It carries a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.25-inch corner radius, and a thickness of 0.1875 inches. The insert delivers 8 usable cutting edges through a neutral hand orientation and negative rake geometry (-15 degrees). Cutting edges are chamfered and honed for controlled entry. Designed for turning, facing, and boring operations, this insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments where insert consistency and tool life are critical.
This insert is suited for roughing and medium machining operations. Its AH120 grade provides a balance of wear resistance and toughness, making it applicable across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. Material grades P15, P25, M15, M25, K15, K30, S10, and S25 are covered. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0787 inches. The insert is retained by clamp or pin holding methods and is compatible with toolholders designed for negative-rake RNMG geometry. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with ANSI size code 43 and ISO code RNMG120400.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for RNMG43-61 AH120 grade toolholders accepting negative-rake round inserts with ANSI size code 43 and ISO code RNMG120400. Compatible with clamp-style and pin-style RNMG toolholder bodies.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and the toolholder fully secured in the turret before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping force - do not overtighten or use impact tools on the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before each index to ensure full seating and accurate cutting geometry.
