The TUNGALOY 6805031 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Series J line, designed for precision groove turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the JVGR150F insert style designation with a TH10 uncoated carbide grade, this insert delivers a 1.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 5.5 mm. It is right-hand oriented and uses a screw-clamping holding method for secure, repeatable positioning. The uncoated TH10 grade is formulated for cutting superalloys and titanium as primary workpiece materials, making it a reliable choice for aerospace, medical, and high-temperature alloy machining environments. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops select this insert for its consistent geometry and ISO 13399 compliance.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on superalloys and titanium as primary materials, with secondary capability on cast iron and steel. The F chip breaker geometry assists in chip control during grooving passes on these demanding materials. It fits Series J toolholders that accept the JVGR 150 insert size, and is appropriate for both production and job-shop turning applications where tight groove tolerances are required. The screw-clamp holding method supports fast insert changes with maintained repeatability at the cutting edge.
Designed for use with Series J grooving toolholders that accept the JVGR 150 insert size. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium; secondary workpiece materials include cast iron and steel. Material grade designations C2 and C3 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before each installation to maintain accurate edge positioning.
