The TUNGALOY 6803216 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the DNGG series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by ISO code DNGG432-FLP, this left-hand insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches. The TH10 carbide grade is suited for demanding applications including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. With a honed cutting edge and negative rake geometry, this insert delivers consistent, controlled chip formation across a range of workpiece materials. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically selects and installs this insert at the machine tool.
This insert is rated for multiple operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The DNGG432-FLP geometry and TH10 uncoated carbide grade target ISO material groups K, N, S, and H, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, superalloys, titanium, and hardened steels. It is held in place using a clamp and pin method, and is compatible with toolholders designed for the DNGGL-P series insert geometry. Industry standard designations ANSI and ISO apply to this insert.
Designed for use in toolholders conforming to the DNGGL-P series insert seat geometry. Compatible with standard clamp-and-pin style turning tool systems accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder insert pocket specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure the clamp and pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure before resuming cuts. Do not use a damaged or chipped insert, as this can affect workpiece tolerances and machine integrity.
