The TUNGALOY 6803209 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the DNGG 431 style, designed for precision metal cutting operations in CNC and manual turning applications. Carrying the TH10 manufacturer grade, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a negative rake angle of -30 degrees, and a honed cutting edge for consistent performance across demanding materials. With four usable cutting edges and a 1/64-inch (0.0157-inch) corner radius, it delivers reliable performance in high-production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials will find this insert well-suited for their tooling programs.
This insert is built for multi-use cutting operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. It fits within the TurnLine series and is classified under the DNGGR-P series holder system. The inscribed circle measures 1/2 inch (12.70 mm), and the insert length is 1.22 inches (15.50 mm), making it compatible with standard DNGG-style toolholders used in medium to heavy-duty lathe and machining center setups. Applications span both roughing and semi-finishing passes on cast iron and superalloy components, as well as non-ferrous and hard material stock.
Designed for use with DNGGR-P series toolholders accepting a DNGG 431 insert. Compatible with turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per material grade classifications P10, M10, K10, and N10.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tool-and-die technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to engage the clamp and pin holding system to the torque specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert to avoid premature edge failure.
