The TUNGALOY 6781123 is a CCMT09T304-PS indexable turning insert in the T9200 series, manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 0.382 inch length, and a 0.0157 inch corner radius. Designed with a positive rake angle of 10 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle, it is engineered for general turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries a Tolerance Code M and Clearance Code C, and the cutting edge is honed for consistent performance. CNC machinists and manual lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and K. It performs well in general turning, facing, and boring applications across both production and light intermittent cutting scenarios. The PS chip breaker geometry supports positive-rake cutting and is well-suited to medium cutting depths up to 0.0984 inches. Material grades P15 and P25 indicate optimal performance in light-to-medium roughing and finishing passes on steel and similar materials. The insert is secured by screw-holding and is part of the CCMT-PS series conforming to ANSI and ISO standards.
Designed for use in CCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for CCMT09T304 (Industry Standard CCMT 32.51) inserts. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) at material grades P15 and P25.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench for the clamping screw to avoid overtightening, which can crack the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before seating the insert.
