The TUNGALOY 6772440 is a CCMT09T308-PM turning insert in manufacturer grade T9215, designed for general-purpose external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating - TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied in sequence - over a solid carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. Key geometry details include an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.382-inch insert length, a 3/8-inch (0.375-inch) inscribed circle, and a 0.0313-inch corner radius. The positive rake angle and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge help reduce cutting forces and extend edge life. Licensed HVAC and metalworking professionals will recognize this as a screw-held, neutral-hand insert suited to medium-duty production cutting.
This insert targets turning, facing, and boring applications in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron - ISO material codes P, M, and K, with material grades P10 and P20. The PM chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively across light to medium depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut rated at 0.1181 inches (3.00 mm). It is a strong fit for shops running mixed-material production or job-shop work where a single insert grade must handle varied workpiece materials. The CCMT-PM series ISO code is CCMT09T308-PM, and the industry standard number is CCMT 32.52 PM.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for CCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards, compatible with screw-clamp holders accepting a CCMT 32.52 insert geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamp force. Verify insert seating and shim condition before resuming cutting operations.
