The TUNGALOY 6772379 is a WNMG 432 ZF turning insert in grade T9215, designed for general-purpose external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and semi-interrupted cuts. The ZF chip breaker geometry uses a chamfered and honed cutting edge with a negative rake angle of -10 degrees, promoting controlled chip formation and edge strength. With six usable cutting edges per insert, this trigon-profile tool delivers a solid cost-per-edge value for production environments. Licensed WNMG 432 ZF ISO geometry ensures dimensional interchangeability across compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material codes P, M, and K. It is a practical choice for material grades P10 and P20, making it appropriate for medium to light roughing and finishing passes in production machining. The neutral hand orientation supports use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholders that accept WNMG-style inserts. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary installers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-production insert for WNMG-style toolholders accepting an 80-degree trigon insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, tolerance code M, and clearance code N, per ANSI and ISO specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Secure the insert using the appropriate clamp or pin torque method specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before clamping to avoid micro-fractures at the cutting edge.
