The TUNGALOY 6772215 is a DNMG 432 TSF indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. The T9215 grade targets steel and stainless steel machining at P10 and P20 material grades, with cast iron as an additional rated workpiece material. The insert carries a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a 0.1875-inch thickness. The TSF chip breaker geometry is designed for finishing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip formation and sharp cutting-edge performance are required. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers of this insert class.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on CNC and manual lathes in production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, matching ISO material codes P, M, and K. The negative rake geometry and neutral hand orientation make it adaptable to a range of toolholder configurations. The four available cutting edges per insert support cost-effective use across repetitive production runs.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 55-degree diamond insert with clamp or pin holding methods. Compatible with toolholder systems rated for negative rake, neutral-hand DNMG inserts per ANSI and ISO insert-seating standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret or toolpost must be locked out before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp screw torque driver recommended by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to seating-stress fracture. Verify insert seating and clearance angles against the toolholder specification before resuming cutting operations.
