Product Description

The TUNGALOY 6747767 is a coated carbide turning insert conforming to ANSI code DCMT32.51 and ISO code DCMT11T304. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 20 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The AH8005 grade carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating engineered for high wear resistance in demanding materials. With a PSF chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing operations, this insert targets stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hardened materials. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians select this insert for precision finish turning on multi-axis and turret lathes.

This insert is suited for finishing passes on stainless steel (ISO material group M), superalloys and titanium (group S), and hardened materials (group H). Its PSF chip breaker geometry controls chip formation during light-to-moderate depth-of-cut finishing cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0197 inches. The neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it compatible with multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. It is screw-held in standard DCMT-style toolholders.

Key Features

  • AH8005 PVD TiAlN coating delivers high wear resistance on stainless steel, superalloys, and hardened workpieces
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake (20 degrees) reduces cutting forces during finishing operations
  • PSF chip breaker geometry designed for finishing - controls chips on difficult-to-machine alloys
  • Neutral hand insert with positive side clearance fits standard DCMT screw-clamp toolholders
  • Two cutting edges per insert; chamfered and honed cutting edge style for edge strength and surface finish
  • Complies with both ANSI and ISO insert standards (DCMT32.51 / DCMT11T304)

Compatibility

Designed for use in standard DCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring per ANSI and ISO toolholder specifications for DCMT32.51 geometry.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Secure the insert using the appropriate torx or hex clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification; do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before each insert change to ensure proper seating and edge repeatability.
