Product Description

The TUNGALOY 6741632 is a CNMG120404-HRF turning insert in grade AH8015, designed for general and interrupted turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating over a solid carbide substrate, giving it strong resistance to heat and wear at elevated cutting speeds. With an 80-degree diamond shape, a negative rake angle of -20 degrees, and a honed cutting edge, it delivers reliable chip control and consistent surface finish across a wide range of workpiece materials. Four usable cutting edges per insert keep tooling cost low on production runs.

This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both roughing and finishing passes. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering material grade classifications M10, M20, S10, and S20. The HRF chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-depth cuts and helps manage chip evacuation in continuous and light interrupted cuts. Typical applications are found in job shops and production machining environments running ISO and ANSI-standard toolholders.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert, as debris under the insert can cause premature edge failure or poor surface finish.
