The TRU-MAXX T1-7WB31217-T is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous and hard materials. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and maintains its form under sustained grinding pressure. At 46 grit with a K hardness rating, it falls in the coarse-to-medium range — well suited for aggressive material removal while retaining enough wheel integrity for controlled surface work. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. Rated to 3,600 RPM. Weighs 2 pounds.
This wheel is used in surface grinding applications across machine shops, tool rooms, and maintenance facilities. It fits horizontal-spindle surface grinders with a 1-1/4 inch arbor. The Type 1 straight-wheel profile makes it suitable for peripheral grinding of flat workpiece surfaces. The non-porous, vitrified bond structure resists loading and provides good dimensional stability across a range of ferrous stock including tool steel, alloy steel, and hardened machine components. Typically installed by machinists, tool-and-die makers, or maintenance technicians in industrial and manufacturing environments.
Designed as a replacement-style Type 1 surface grinding wheel for horizontal-spindle surface grinders accepting a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and a 7 inch diameter wheel.
Surface grinding wheels must be installed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician following the grinder manufacturer's mounting procedures and applicable ANSI B11.9 safety standards. Always perform a ring test before mounting and confirm the machine's rated spindle speed meets or exceeds the wheel's 3,600 RPM maximum before operation. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels. Never exceed the maximum RPM marked on the wheel.
