The TRU-MAXX 7147 is a coated abrasive belt designed for dry surface finishing on belt sanders and similar abrasive machines. Built on a polyester cloth backing with an X-weight designation, this belt handles the mechanical stress and heat generated during sustained grinding or finishing passes. The 180-grit aluminum oxide abrasive is rated Very Fine grade, making it well suited for final-stage stock removal, surface blending, and light deburring on metal and wood substrates. The closed-coat construction packs abrasive grain tightly across the belt face for consistent cut rate and a uniform finish.
This belt measures 2 inches wide by 48 inches long, a common size found on bench-top and floor-standing belt sanders used in metal fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and woodworking operations. The aluminum oxide abrasive is appropriate for ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, hardwoods, and composite materials. Dry-only operation is required. At 180 grit Very Fine, it is typically used after coarser grits to refine surface texture before final finishing or coating application.
Designed as a standard replacement abrasive belt for belt sanders and finishing machines that accept a 2 inch by 48 inch belt.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Disconnect power to the belt sander before replacing the belt. Confirm belt tracking direction arrows align with the machine's drive direction before startup. Inspect the platen, idler roller, and drive drum for wear or debris before fitting a new belt.
