The TRU-MAXX 66254443431 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and blending on steel and stainless steel surfaces. At 4.5 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, this disc mounts directly to standard angle grinders. The conical Type 29 geometry presents the abrasive at an angle to the workpiece, increasing surface contact and stock removal rate compared to flat Type 27 discs. The medium-grade, 80-grit zirconia alumina abrasive delivers consistent cut on ferrous metals. Rated to 13,300 RPM, the disc runs on most 4.5-inch angle grinders within typical guard configurations. Poly-cotton backing provides flex and durability through extended use. The disc weighs 0.22 pounds.
This flap disc is suited for fabrication shops, maintenance trades, and field metalwork where weld grinding, surface conditioning, and edge blending are routine tasks. The 80-grit cut rate makes it effective for removing mill scale, light welds, and surface oxidation on carbon steel and stainless steel. It is part of the GP-Z series, intended for general-purpose zirconia grinding applications. Licensed tradespeople including ironworkers, pipefitters, welders, and metal fabricators are the primary installers and users of this product.
Designed for use on steel and stainless steel. Fits 4.5-inch angle grinders with a 7/8-inch arbor spindle. Verify that the grinder free-speed RPM does not exceed the 13,300 RPM disc rating before mounting.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with angle grinder safety practices. Confirm the grinder is unplugged or the power source is isolated before mounting the disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage prior to each use and never operate above the rated 13,300 RPM. Eye protection, a face shield, and appropriate PPE are required during grinding operations per ANSI B11 and OSHA standards.
