The TRU-MAXX 66254443428 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on steel and stainless steel surfaces. The disc measures 7 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole and carries a 36-grit very coarse abrasive rating, making it well suited for weld blending, deburring, and stock removal where surface finish is secondary to cut rate. The conical Type 29 profile presents the abrasive at an angle that concentrates grinding pressure and increases cutting efficiency compared to a flat Type 27 configuration. Maximum rated speed is 8,600 RPM. The abrasive flaps are backed by a poly-cotton material that provides flexibility and consistent grit exposure throughout the disc life.
This disc is a practical choice for fabrication shops, structural steel contractors, pipeline crews, and maintenance trades working with mild steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel. The GP-Z series zirconia alumina grain self-sharpens under pressure, sustaining cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide on harder metals. It is appropriate for use on angle grinders in both production and field environments. The very coarse 36-grit designation suits initial pass work such as removing mill scale, grinding welds flush, and cleaning corroded base metal before coating or weld preparation.
Designed for use on angle grinders accepting a 7-inch disc with a 7/8 inch arbor hole. Rated for material applications on steels and stainless steel per the GP-Z series specification.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out and tagged. Verify the grinder speed rating meets or does not exceed the 8,600 RPM maximum disc rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows any visible defect. Appropriate eye protection, face shield, and gloves are required; follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable shop safety standards when operating abrasive wheels.
