The TRU-MAXX 66254427331 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision flat grinding on surface grinders in machine shops and toolrooms. Built with a ceramic abrasive grain and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal and a durable cutting structure. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 46 grit, coarse grade designation makes it well suited for aggressive material removal on ferrous and hard materials. Rated to a maximum of 3600 RPM, this wheel is a standard workhorse for production and maintenance grinding applications where controlled cut rate and wheel longevity matter.
This grinding wheel is designed for use on horizontal spindle surface grinders in both production and maintenance shop environments. The Type 1 straight-wheel profile is the most common format for surface grinder applications and fits a wide range of table-mount and reciprocating-surface grinder setups. The coarse 46-grit ceramic construction makes it appropriate for rapid stock removal passes before finishing operations. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians typically select this wheel for roughing passes on steel and other hard materials where removal rate takes priority over surface finish.
Designed as a Type 1 straight surface grinding wheel for use on horizontal spindle surface grinders accepting an 8 inch diameter wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole running at or below 3600 RPM.
Mounting and dressing of grinding wheels must be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test, and ensure the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating marked on the wheel. Power down and lock out the surface grinder before removing the existing wheel, and use proper flanges and blotters during installation. Always dress the wheel with an appropriate dressing tool before the first grinding pass to true the face and open the grain structure.
