The TRU-MAXX 66253292492 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal on ferrous metals and tool steel. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 1-1/4 inches arbor hole. It is constructed from aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with a vitrified bond system, producing a porous, semi-friable structure rated at grain structure 12. With a 46 grit coarse grade and K hardness (medium), this wheel delivers aggressive material removal while maintaining enough wheel integrity for flat surface and surface grinder applications. The maximum operating speed is 3600 RPM. Licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and skilled maintenance trades install and dress this type of wheel.
This surface grinding wheel is suited for horizontal-spindle surface grinders commonly found in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and tool rooms. The Type 1 straight-wheel profile fits standard surface grinder spindle configurations. The aluminum oxide grain with vitrified bond performs well on hardened steels, carbon steels, and similar ferrous workpieces where a coarse, open cut is needed. Its porous structure aids in chip clearance and coolant flow during wet or dry grinding passes.
Designed for use on horizontal-spindle surface grinders accepting a Type 1 straight wheel with a 1-1/4 inches arbor hole and an 8 inches diameter wheel.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by qualified machine operators or maintenance machinists following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never exceed the 3600 RPM maximum speed stamped on the wheel or blotter. Use proper flanges and a compressible blotter on both sides when mounting; never use damaged or undersized flanges. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing or dressing the wheel.
