The TRU-MAXX 66253269552 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision flat and surface grinding applications on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and predictable wear characteristics valued by machinists and grinding technicians. At 46 grit with a J hardness code and medium hardness rating, it falls in the coarse range, making it well suited for stock removal passes. The grain structure is rated 6, and the wheel is semi-friable, meaning it self-sharpens during use to maintain an aggressive cutting action. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM. The wheel weighs 2 pounds.
This wheel is used in surface grinding operations on manual and CNC surface grinders found in machine shops, tool rooms, and maintenance departments. The 7-inch diameter, 0.5-inch thickness, and 1.25-inch arbor hole fit standard horizontal-spindle surface grinder configurations. Coarse, 46-grit aluminum oxide wheels at this size are commonly selected for roughing passes where faster material removal is prioritized over fine finish. The white aluminum oxide construction and vitrified bond make it appropriate for hardened steels and tool steels where heat generation must be managed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard consumable for horizontal-spindle surface grinders accepting a 7-inch diameter, 0.5-inch thick, Type 1 wheel with a 1.25-inch arbor hole running at or below 3,600 RPM.
Surface grinding wheels must be installed and dressed by a qualified machinist or grinding technician following ANSI B11.23 safe-use guidelines for grinding machines. Always perform a ring test before mounting and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum rated speed of this wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing wheels, and use the correct flanges and blotters per machine manufacturer specifications. Never exceed the rated RPM; overspeed is a critical safety hazard with vitrified bond wheels.
