The TRU-MAXX 66253255901 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous metals and similar materials. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and good wheel life across a range of surface grinding applications. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 80 grit, J hardness (medium grade) combination makes it well-suited for general-purpose surface grinding where a balance of material removal and surface finish quality is needed. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM. The wheel carries a semi-friable grain designation and a grain structure of 6, indicating moderate porosity suited to controlled grinding passes.
This wheel is intended for use on horizontal-spindle surface grinders commonly found in machine shops, tool rooms, and maintenance departments. It fits standard surface grinder spindles accepting a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore. The Type 1 straight-wheel profile makes it appropriate for flat surface work on steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpieces. A licensed machinist or qualified grinding machine operator typically selects and mounts this wheel for production or maintenance grinding tasks.
Designed as a direct-mount replacement for Type 1 surface grinding wheels with a 7 inch diameter, 1/2 inch thickness, and 1-1/4 inch arbor hole on standard horizontal-spindle surface grinders.
Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety requirements for abrasive wheel use. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips using the ring test before mounting, and never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 3,600. Proper flanges, blotters, and arbor nut torque appropriate to the machine manufacturer specifications must be used.
